Terms of use

These are the terms for using svylab.com and the svyLab platform. They are written to be read. If your organization has signed a design-partner or other written agreement with Samplics LLC, that agreement governs where the two differ.

1. What svyLab is, right now

svyLab is in early access. We are working with a small number of organizations while the product is completed; some capabilities are built, others are being finished with those partners. We describe the state honestly on the site and in the walkthrough, and we do not promise dates or features beyond what is written in a signed agreement.

2. Accounts

You need an account to use the platform. Keep your credentials to yourself, use a work email where you can, and tell us at info@svylab.com if you think your account has been used without your permission. You are responsible for what happens under your account.

3. Your data stays yours

You own the datasets, questionnaires, plans, results, and reports you upload or create. You give us only the permission needed to store and process them to provide the service to your organization. We do not use them to train models, share them across organizations, or sell them. Our privacy page says what we collect and why. You are responsible for having the right to upload what you upload — in particular for survey microdata, follow your organization's and your data provider's rules on disclosure and confidentiality.

4. Acceptable use

Use svyLab for survey and statistical work. Don't try to break in, overload the service, access another organization's data, or use the platform to do something unlawful. Don't upload data you are not allowed to hold or share. We may suspend an account that does these things.

5. The open-source engine

The svy library is open source under its own license (see the repository); those terms, not this page, govern your use of it. svyLab, its name, and the platform's own code and content belong to Samplics LLC. Every estimate the platform computes runs through the open engine, and results are plain, versioned files, so what you build here can be re-run outside it.

6. Fees

Walkthroughs are free. Design partnerships and, later, commercial use are paid under a written agreement that states the price, the duration, and what each side commits to. Nothing on this website is a price list.

7. Availability, warranties, and liability

During early access there is no uptime commitment unless a signed agreement provides one. We work hard to keep the service available and the numbers correct — correctness a reviewer can audit is the point of the product — but the platform is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied. To the extent the law allows, Samplics LLC is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from use of the service, and our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim (or one hundred US dollars if you have paid nothing). Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

8. Ending things

You can stop using svyLab and ask us to remove your organization's data at any time. We can suspend or end access for a breach of these terms, with notice where practical. Sections 3, 5, and 7 survive.

9. Changes and law

We may update these terms; we will post the new date at the top and, for material changes, tell signed-in members by email. Continued use after a change means you accept it. These terms are governed by the laws of the United States and of the state in which Samplics LLC is organized, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.
